The following are rules, advice, suggestions and rough guidelines about the BBS Documentary BBS. It's somewhat similar to all those annoying legal disclaimers one sees on anything fun and joyful on the Internet; it's one of those necessities of life.

The BBS is not being closely watched. This means that things will likely get out of hand and things will be posted that are not nice, do not contain pleasant words, and perhaps will contain a very large basket of lies. Where possible, I (Jason Scott) will do my best to control the madness, but madness it is, and it should be considered so.

Opinions expressed on the BBS do not reflect the opinion of the BBS Documentary, Jason Scott, or any of his friends and affiliates. Some postings which claim to be by Jason Scott may, in fact, not be so. If you ever have a concern about something you think I said or which concerns you, please mail me at jscott at textfiles-dot-com, and I will respond like the intelligent, non-foolish person you think I am.

Pretty much every Newsreader has a "bozo filter". Be prepared to use it. This means that you will likely find people posting who you hate or otherwise don't want to read, and these features included in newsreaders will allow you to ignore them easily and effectively. Trying to "drive them off" will make nobody happy and probably won't work. Ignoring them makes the problems go away for you, so try that instead.

Please have a good time. The BBS is up for people who are inspired to write and converse because of the BBS Documentary. If you feel so inclined, go ahead and post memories, thoughts, ideas or discussions, they're all welcome. I've tried to add enough newsgroups to accomodate a lot of different concurrent conversations, and can always add more on request. Like any BBS, interest will vary, and things might go intertial for weeks and then heat up overnight; that's the nature of it. Roll with the punches and go with the flow, and be a part of the BBS.
